1st amendment

  • I think numbers 1, Give a speech before a large gathering of people and express opinions about the president's abilities,
  • 4, Write a letter for the editorial page of a newspaper in which you criticize a state legislator,
  • 7, Circulate a petition calling for the repeal of an unpopular law, and
  • 8, Post your opinion on your blog about an issue being discussed at a local school board meeting, are protected by the first amendment.
  • The four I chose mainly focus on opinions, and The first amendment deals with the freedom of speech, press, and religion. It is important because if their wasn't the first amendment employers would be able to force their employees to go to a specific religious activity. People could write or print whatever they wanted to anyone just for kicks, even if it gets them fired. Also it would allow people to write to the president saying the would attack him and the government couldn't do anything about it. So if the first amendment wasn't in effect, we would have a lot more presidents and a lot more Lincoln incidents.
